Londonderry Kicked Up Money for Bella Tucker

kick_a_thonThis past weekend, American Kenpo Academy hosted a kick-a-thon in honor of Bella Tucker. Thanks to all the kickers and volunteers, including Peter and Kara Tessitore, the event was very successful. The Academy raised about $10,000 for the Bella Tucker Fund.

The kick-a-thon was “kicked off” by Governor Lynch and two of Bella’s aunts. Throughout the day, over 125 people stopped by for the event. Some came to kick, others came for the raffle, and still others came just to show their support to the family. Bella’s family also showed up for the event.

The check was presented to Bella’s mom, step-dad and two siblings at about 5:30 PM that evening. “It was a feeling that I cannot describe – not only watching the kids/adults kick, but when Bella’s mom saw that check, there was not a dry eye in the studio,” said Cheryl Haas, a mom whose children attend both South School and the American Kenpo Academy. “Everyone involved was amazing – the kids worked so hard on kicking (and counting their kicks.) It was a special feeling to be a part of this event and well worth it!”
