Tonight members of the Bella Tucker Home Improvement Group will be presenting to the Town Council great news regarding the effort for Bella Tucker. Community Development Director Andre Garron along with Derek Felix of Blackdog Builders, Keith Boyle of Cube3, and Anthony Nigro of Suffolk Construction Company will give a presentation tonight focusing on the retrofit of the Bella Tucker residence.
According to Bella’s family “The renovations on the home began last week. Suffolk Construction and Cube 3 designers will be doing all the work free of charge – everything! It will be a three floor addition on the back of the house with an interior elevator. Otis Elevator Company, the world’s leading manufacturer, installer and maintainer of elevators, donated an elevator unit to be used in the construction.” said Linda Boyd South School Principal.
The construction begins in the garage area. The first floor is the garage level. The second level addition on the living area of the home will be a physical therapy room and bathroom for Bella. The addition floor above will be Bella’s bedroom and bathroom which will adjoin her parents’ bedroom.
Linda Boyd continued in an update with us last week, “Access is the emphasis. They will be installing a wraparound porch on the front of the home. Concrete/brick paths will be put in all around the yard with some raised planters for Bella to do her magic with plants. Bella belongs to the SS Apprentice Gardener Club and was an avid participant. She boasts about a very healthy Venus Fly Trap that her brothers take pleasure in feeding. They will also be installing central air conditioning and heat in the home.”
The work is due to be completed by November 1 and the construction volunteers will be working 6 days a week, Monday through Saturday.
Bella will remain at Children’s a bit longer before going on to Spaulding Rehab and then she will be off off to Philadelphia Shriners Hospital.
