March 30, 2011 Update
Bella Tucker Preparing to Go For a Swim.It's been a long, cold and snowy winter, but Bella has made it through with her beautiful smile and without any hitches. She has been spending these cold days hanging out with her brothers, sister and her friends, playing games on her computer, Facebooking and always texting anyone who will text back! Bella continues to attend therapy and is making incredible strides everyday. She recently began swim therapy, and absolutely loves her new found freedom in the water. We're sure before long she will be swimming on her own!
The guys at Next Step Orthotics and Prosthetics have said they have never seen such a quick improvement on anybody in all their days. Her posture is near perfect, and she continues to take more and more steps each week. She has already outgrown her first set of prosthetic legs and is working on her new ones which allows her to wear shoes! Shoe shopping will almost certainly be a new and fun adventure. Bella also recently brought home her first prosthetic arm! It's her left arm and it uses myoelectric technology so that when she flexes her muscles she can control the grip of her hand. She amazed everyone at how quickly she has adapted to using it so well. This new and advanced technology will be very useful for Bella in the future as she adjusts to life using whatever

Bella also recently took her first airplane ride to New York City on JetBlue! There, she and her family were treated to a weekend of fun courtesy of Mark Magarity(recipient of Man of the Year) and The Torch Foundation. She experienced her first Broadway show, Mary Poppins, and had an awesome night at The Torch Foundations Gala where she enjoyed dinner, music and playing games with her family and new found friends. Of course, Bella looked absolutely beautiful in her new dress and fresh haircut!
Needless to say, Bella is getting on well, thanks to the generosity and well wishes of everyone over the past year. We can't say thank you enough to all who have contributed to Bella's recovery and future. Bella is sure to show us all that through hard work and never ending determination, nothing is impossible.
